Last week we shared a round-up of winter and Christmas markets taking place across Northumberland. This post has been updated as more of you share with us some brilliant markets that are taking place across the county.

This week we are sharing some brilliant festive shows that are happening across Northumberland, suitable for a range of ages.

Fabulously Festive Performances ✨
1. The Maltings Pantomime 2024: The Adventures of Sinbad
Showing from Saturday 7th until Tuesday 31st December, various times. Prices start from £12.50 and the duration of the performance is approx 2 hours including an interval.
Packed with magical moments and swash-buckling comedy, The Adventures of Sinbad is suitable for everyone, making it a perfect treat for all!
The Adventures of Sinbad is written and directed by The Malting’s very own Wendy Payn and produced by the same team who brought you Snow White, Ali Baba and the Four Tea Thieves and last year’s best-selling Cinderella!
This year’s festive extravaganza also sees the return of some very familiar cast members and our production team will be working hard behind the scenes to make this year’s panto sparkle and shine, bringing laughter and joy and making memories for everyone!
2. The Alnwick Playhouse presents: Little Red Riding Hood
Prepare yourself for a unique spin on the beloved tale in this magical madcap retelling of the classic fairytale. Tickets cost £15 for a standard ticket and £12 for a child ticket.

3. Queen’s Hall Hexham and The Night Before ChrisMouse
This one runs from Saturday 7th to Tuesday 31st December, with tickets from £8.50. A perfect show for families with young children as it has a run time of 50 minutes.
Join MOUSE on a Christmas Eve mission to leave a present under the tree. Most importantly don't get caught by CAT!
A festive tale told with original music, puppets and lots of opportunity to squeak along and join in.
4. Another one at Queen’s Hall: Jack and the Beanstalk
Jack and the Beanstalk is more suited for over 5’s and runs from Saturday 7th December until Saturday 4th January 2025.
Tickets from £13.
Christmas is fast approaching in the cold, barren North. There's no magic to be found here. Or is there?
When Mam desperately sends Jack to sell the family cow at the market, trading her for a bag of magic beans isn't exactly what she had in mind. Anyway there's no such thing as magic beans! Trouble begins to grow...
4. 'The Darkest Midnight In December' Christmas Concert by Gareth Davies-Jones at Wooler URC
A Christmas acoustic concert bringing a welcome oasis of acoustic calm amongst the busiest of seasons. Friday 13th December, 7.30pm - 9.30pm
You can book tickets for the concert here and cost £9.38. This concert is organised by Wooler URC.
Gareth is also playing at Blanchland Abbey the following evening (Saturday 14th) and tickets for that concert are available here.
5. Morpeth Library Christmas event with Fools Gold
Wednesday 4th December, 2pm - 3pm.
A great celebration of the Christmas season, combining Christmas Stories, images and live acoustic music! Book your place here.
6. A Christmas Carol at Alnwick Playhouse
Saturday 30th November at 7.30pm.
Chapterhouse Theatre Company is proud to bring you A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens’ timeless tale of hope and redemption this Christmas. Follow the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge as he embarks upon a journey through his past, present, and future, learning along the way to appreciate the true meaning of Christmas.
