Hello everyone,
Hope your week has been good and as productive as can be.
A reminder, that we are busy working behind the scenes to get your thoughts and feedback on the current Cultural Strategy for Northumberland. It’s a beautiful and inspiring read but our landscape has changed dramatically since it was written. Technology has moved on and there is much to celebrate.
Please do familiarise yourself with it and we’ll be in touch again soon to help you feed into the future vision for the next strategy.
New and Noteworthy…

They have so many wonderful plans for the year ahead, we can’t wait to see what happens next. You can hire The Straw Yard for community events, workshops, parties and exhibitions.
This was a big announcement from our friends at The Old School Gallery. The words of support on this post just goes to show what an asset the gallery is to our county. Please get in touch directly with Penny and Dale if you have a possibility for collaboration or partnership.
“Unfortunately we are sad to announce that towards the end of this year we will be leaving our lovely gallery in Alnmouth. Our landlord has decided that the building will be put up for sale with planning for residential development.
Over the past decade, we’ve poured our hearts into the gallery, striving to create an inspiring space for art lovers and to make a significant cultural contribution to Northumberland. It’s the artists and their stunning artwork that have transformed this small school hall into the cherished gallery so many have come to love and it’s been an honour to show hundreds of pieces of artwork here.
From curating exhibitions to hosting workshops and events, we’ve always believed in the power of collaboration. We’ve already begun exploring some exciting new possibilities and offers for 2026 but we’re open to new ideas and partnerships.
Get in touch with us if you know of a unique space or venue that could be enhanced by what we do.
While we would like to remain in Northumberland, we’re casting our net far and wide for 2026 and welcome suggestions from across the region and beyond.
For the year ahead we have fantastic exhibitions planned. We’ll remain open in Alnmouth until the end of 2025 so if you’ve been meaning to visit us, this is the year to do it!”
