Let’s keep supporting culture this Christmas!
Hi all,
This will be our last newsletter until the new year and we wanted to send over a request. If you have the chance to buy tickets, gift voucher tickets, pop into your local cultural venue for a cuppa, please do.
Being local to Alnwick, Beth and I have spent countless hours inside the Alnwick Playhouse and Library this year. I have booked tickets as Christmas presents for things in 2025.
Beth likes to work at the hot desks in the library, I’ve run co-working sessions in the bar. I’ve taken my son to the cinema there, met friends for coffee, taken my daughter to see shows. I interviewed
for in the studio in February and watched speak about folklore and fairytale. You could have heard a pin drop in that audience.Last night, we were kindly gifted tickets to Alnwick Playhouse’s Christmas Show ‘Little Red Riding Hood - A Trial.’ We gladly went along to see the show with our families who were thoroughly entertained throughout.
I loved the funny songs the most and doing dancing - L, age 3.
About the show
Little Red Riding Hood: A Trial!
An Alnwick Playhouse and Tortive Theatre production.
Are you all ready for the story of Little Red Riding Hood?
Prepare yourself for a unique spin on the beloved tale in this magical madcap retelling of the classic fairytale.
En route to her Gran’s house, a young girl unexpectedly crosses paths with a very smelly, very hairy and very hungry wolf. The crafty creature tricks both the red hooded child and her grandmother resulting in the wolf eating Red’s Gran!!!!!.
This reimagining puts the smelly old Wolf on trial, facing judgement for his alleged granny munching misdeeds.
But is he really such a big, bad wolf? Can the accused sweet-talk his way out of trouble? Is Little Red really all sugar and sweet niceness? Is Grannie really fully digested? Where is the wood cutter when you need him?
You decide in this chaotic courtroom crash…
Ideal for the whole family to sink their teeth into, it is also a funny and pythonesque treat for adults too. A tale that is both familiar and refreshingly wild.
