Good afternoon all.
How has your week been?
Claire here. I’m aiming to publish more of the behind the scenes of our current research into the possibilities for Culture Northumberland. I’m almost finished now. There are two more podcasts in this series.
You can find our previous posts/ podcasts here.
A few weeks back I met with Horts aka Rachel Horton from Northumberland based Mortal Fools and her own culture profile raising space ‘The Culture Vulture’
Who are Mortal Fools and what do they do?
Mortal Fools is a multi-award-winning theatre, drama, and creative learning company based in Northumberland - working with children and young people using drama and creative interventions to support their wellbeing and personal development.
They are a company of participatory artists and practitioners who are committed to co-creating compelling, dynamic, socially-relevant, and high-quality theatre-based work with children, young people, and communities.
They work with thousands of children and young people every year, mostly in the North East.
They are a purpose-driven organisation. Our work must be relevant to and matter in wider society, and make a demonstrable and measurable difference to those we work with.
Horts and I talked about;
Co-creating for, by and with young people
Digital delivery and outreach
Audience development
Marketing
Ashington as a unique place to offer culture
Sustainability and staff/ freelancer wellbeing
Ticket cost/ free tickets /accessibility
And Horts’ work as a freelancer/ owner of The Culture Vulture space
